With regards to the sagged YJ spring I would just fit it on the passenger side. The drivers side one will soon adjust to match it.

Cheers Scottie. That's the way they were labeled from the person I bought them off but I thought he had it wrong and that it would be 5 leaf in front and 4 in rear.

Cheers dan. I hoping its going to be a good one! Its taking me long enough!!! Your probably right about the other spring matching after time! Have had a quote from jones springs to reset.....£65 per spring so think I will send the pair off and get it right to start with.

Well it's been a while since I've made much progress, been busy with work and had a holiday so running way behind where I thought I'd be at this point!! Also been doing little fiddly jobs. Couldn't find a Japanese brake servo when I was looking so I pulled mine apart and modified it to remove the spacer between it and the bulkhead. Didn't take any pics of the inside but I welded 2 more studs inside it as they only have 2 so I had to drill and modify the bulkhead and pedal box and then cut the excess off the push rod and tapped a thread onto it.
I've also repositioned the heater tap. It was just getting a bit tight in original position behind inlet manifold.

The distributor on the gti engine has been a bit of an issue. I first tried a Mazda 323 distributor cap which probably could have worked but I didn't really like it and it would have been an absolute arse to get off, just no clearance to the bulkhead. I looked at adjusting the bulkhead with a hammer but the heater motor is right at that point and I'd like to keep it operational! Hunted around for an angle drive set up. Found a couple of places that did them but they were mega dear! Sat down with a pen and paper and did loads of measurements and took it to a local machine shop, they took a while but did an awesum job! I then trimmed it up, drilled and tapped some holes and it cost a lot less! Hopefully it all works!
I've also shifted the battery to the left side and made an airbox with a higher intake in the top corner.
Starting the wiring up process now as well.......got a helper for that luckily, my wiring skills are a bit rusty! Hopefully it will fire into life soon

Nice work on the angle drive mod.

Moe over on a few other zuki forums just actually had a batch made as he had the same issues finding them for a decent price, still ended up being around £185 each plus shipping from Norway.

Ha. Think I got a price of him a while back. His are probably a bit better as his shafts are bigger diameter. I kept mine real simple with a small shaft all the way through and used the bearing from the old dizzy. My thought was although it spins fast there is not a huge load on it. Hopefully it does the trick It came in at £45 so a considerable saving!
