hi from kent

Post by ashby001 » Sun Nov 16, 2014 11:06 pm

Hi I'm from Kent don't own a 4x4 yet but want to get a vitara
Me and the girlfriend want one for travelling to norway in (won't go unless we have a 4x4)
Done alot of looking around and research and the vitara seems like the most practical and within budget for what I want (it will be a daily commuter before we go and used for greenlaning when I get back)
But which one do I get a 1.6 petrol or the 2l diesel?
I'm going swb as we don't plan on taking much, the back seats will be taken out and we'll be sleeping in a bell tent where we stop

Hi and welcome. Petrol 1.6 any day. Diesels are heavy, not good in an off roader, slow too, and smelly! My Vit will be up for sale in maybe a week, but it won't be that cheap...

Welcome to SCUK.

The 1.6 us a good motor, reliable. Don't have any experience of the diesels.

Thanks for the replies
Petrol it is then. What's the life of the motor before you need a rebuild? Say 100k if not looked after 150k if it is??
Anything I should be on the look out for when viewing?
