Its pretty much bolt on but you need to re drill a vitara double bottom pully to fit the 1.3 engine

Ok thanks. Will give it a good go anyway, only way to learn I guess!

Having a "wedge" probably counts as a modified steering setup, and I may need to put my SJ through the 8 point system inspection one day - a jimny box, being a direct bolt on replacement, and an OEM part, should mean not losing those points.
You worry too much, it's barely even noticeable and bolt on so it shouldn't make a difference. Why would you need to put it through an 8 point inspection??? Doesn't take much to keep 8 points anyway.

I worry because VOSA/DVLA are full of jobsworths. My axles are not original, my suspension is not original, if I do an engine swap my engine/transmission won't be original - and then I won't have 8 points!

I'll probably be ok, but the less there is to point at and tut over, the happier I'll be that I could have it inspected under the radically altered vehicles scheme and not have to worry.

I may never have it inspected, but if I ever do go coils, I'd probably have to.

Your axles are original ;) they are still SJ axles. your suspension is original....just because the springs and shocks are aftermarket does not really mean that it will loose the points for those, it's bolt on, they aren't modified.

I think you are reading into it too much

Damn the way you are saying it my sj should have gone in for an inspection years ago  FUCK THAT! it passes it's MOT every year, the engine is registered on the V5.... I haven't removed any structural crossmembers or mounts from my chassis or modified the chassis rails.....It's still identifiable as an SJ.....All mods are declared on my insurance.....
I'm legal
