Iv got a Jimny power steering box, vitara pump, vitara res and the pulleys on the way and was wondering if anyone has fitted this set up before. Read that the jimny box bolts straight on. But was wondering where everything else mounts like the pump. Any help from anyone on fitting this would be appreciated!

you might have to re-drill the holes on the pump bracket, but you should find somewhere to mount it on the exhaust side of the engine block, just to the right and up slightly from the bottom pulley. As for the reservoir, you might have to fab something up for that to go on, as long as the pipes can reach the pump. And yes the jimny box is the same hole pattern as the standard so should just bolt straight up.

what engine is it going on can i ask?

I *think* (don't quote me) that the SJ pitman arm won't fit a jimny PAS box without modification.

It's something I read once, I have *no clue* if I'm talking out of my rear or not.

Yeah there is plenty of room in the bay to mount bits now I think of it. Shouldn't be too bad then! Going on a sj413. So just a standard 1.3 with su carb, so hopefully will have the power to run it ha!

Would probably be my luck that it won't lol

So will I have to buy a jimny pitman arm too or would that come with the steering box?

You'd have to ask the guy you're buying the box from.

I have the Vit PAS setup sitting around waiting for me to get around to fitting it (steering box, pipework, pump etc) but I may just get a Jimny box/pitman arm so I don't need a "wedge".

Having a "wedge" probably counts as a modified steering setup, and I may need to put my SJ through the 8 point system inspection one day - a jimny box, being a direct bolt on replacement, and an OEM part, should mean not losing those points.

I'm in no hurry, the SJ's heavy steering isn't a problem for me. I only want to fit it because my mum wants to drive the SJ someday!

Ah fair enough! Thanks for the help, see how I get on when it arrives lol

If you look through my build thread there are some fitting photos of my PAS setup including collapsing the bracket so it clears the radiator mount on the chassis.
