After a very long delay I am finally dumping the Aisin and fitting my SU44 with a Richard Rockwatt modded manifold. My question is: the new mani has a bigger rebate for the t'stat than old one. In all pother espects the new mani seems identical to old one. Original t'stat housing is 52mm O/D seat, new mani is 56.5mm and the rebate in the casting that the t'stat sits in is deeper. So I need a new tstat and gasket(s) but how do I make certain I get the right one so it fits proper?
Any help greatly appreciated, thanks

Re: Sami thermostat question
Pretty sure the only actual difference between the two thermostats is that one has a rubber seal that fits on it and that's what makes it larger, however the metal part of the stat is the same.
Re: Sami thermostat question
Thanks Scottie, that makes total sense of what I have. Found this (and other similar) and the rubber gasket would make up both the extra diameter and the depth of the bigger rebate/seat:
I shall get this and fingers crossed... next the longer throttle cable
edit p.s. I read here somewhere someone having an issue with temp gauge reading low, mine is the same (about 1/3rd up from cold on the gauge). This may fix that too!!
