Hi Scottiej, You messaged me rescently about the differences between a 410 and a 413 T-box.. (2+1/2 turns / 2+1/4 turns)..
So That relates to the numbers above.. 410 low 2.51 (turns) and 413 low 2.27 (turns) ?
Another question is I've seen rock crawler gears for sale that gear the T-box to 6.5 to 1.. So that would be 6+1/2 turns and very much lower? Too low?
What about the calmini rockcrawler gear set..The advert doesn't give a ratio.. just says that it's got a 83% reduction in low. Again, too low?

Yes that is correct

Yes it would be 6.5 turns in low; this would be good for 32-33" tyres running standard diff ratios

An 80% reduction in low is pretty much equal to a 4.16:1 gear set; the same as a rocklobster and is good for 30-31" tyres running standard diff ratios. If you want a rocklobster the best thing to do is source a 410 and 413 transfer box and send them both to Rockwatt in the traders section
he does them for a good price.
Then if you want to run 35"+ tyres you'll want a transfer box with 8:1 low ratio

Thanks for taking the time to check out my questions.. Been looking for a 410 T-box but there seems to be a lot of tossers on ebay who haven't got a clue what there selling.. I've spoken to rockwatt/richard a couple of times and he will build me a rocklobster as soon as I get the 410 box, just thought I'd get an education and understand/research the other options... Thanks again. John.

this is pretty handy and has all the samurai stuff in the drop down boxes including rocklobster but missing 410 t-box but ratios are above.
gives road and crawl speeds and more

I have been messing around with XL and have put together a calculator (I like to see things visually so have added graphs) It is also, for me, easier to use as I do not have to enter all the data to change one thing.
Working through my gearing on the racer with the new gearbox and axles I get 86mph flat in 5th in low box. This is ideal as I personally would not want to go much faster on leaf springs + I always have the option of high box which will give me 11/2 extra gears and a top speed (probably unobtainable) of 137mph.
The spread of the ratios on the Carlton box is good, the change 2 to 3rd drops the revs by 150 rpm more than is ideal so I will need to hang on to second a little longer than the other gears
If anyone wants the XL calculator let me know, it is not pretty but it does work.

Hi Tim if you could email it to me on Scottiej @ suzukiclubuk.co.uk (obviously without the spaces) i should be able to host it on the server for anyone to download if that's ok.
Cheers
