After bending ANOTHER one this weekend I really do need to get a quality one!

Get mercedes steering arms... you bolt them on with your brake caliper mounts and give you nice easy OTT steering

I couldn't tell you which mercedes they come off though!

For an offroad only low speed vehicle maybe, the Tre's have different tapers to suzuki Tre's and this results in barely any surface contact. I would not advise it on any road going SJ!

Yeah as scott points out I think most people use different tie rods.

My mate who's got the merc arms on his has a different tie rod that's about the same length as a suzuki one

I'm going with the Merc steering arms and TRE's

Been trawling the Merc forums to find the right ones, the off road forums are full of dodgy info!

They are actually called steering arms and are fitted to the 126 Chassis which covers these models :

These are the Mercedes part no's (if you want new ones)

STEERING ARM LEFT - A 1163321620

STEERING ARM RIGHT - A 1163321720

This is one fitted on a Suzuki, it bolts to the caliper holes but needs slightly drilled out to fit and longer bolts.

The new bolts need to be :

M12 x 1.25 x 50

M12 x 1.25 x 60

They are different lengths, you will need one of each for either calliper

One of the ebay breakers I asked wanted £50 each plus postage!!

They are £41 each new from Mercedes

I think that merc arm is such a good idea compared to the horrid Z-Bar

I was going to do it using only 1 arm by making a new drop link and leaving the existing tia bar in place on the original mounts, in theory to make the drop link all I needed was 2 rod ends (one for SJ and one for Merc) a beefy bit of Dom and someone to cut some threads in either end so that the rod ends could also be changed when they wear out too.

£10 each, that makes for a cheap decent conversion
