Samurai 1.3 power steering
Ok, i've got the basics.
Vit box and a wedge or jimny box
Vit or jimny pump and resevoir
I've been through the other power steering posts but i'm looking for some good phots of the fittings.
Also which pulleys and belts do i need? Is all pipework fittings for vit and jimny the same?
Thanks

Re: Samurai 1.3 power steering
I've located a scrap yard near ish to me with both jimny and vitaras in. So either way is possble. Making up a wedge isn't a bother if i can get vit box noticeably cheaper.

Re: Samurai 1.3 power steering
I paid a tenner for my Vitara PS box, they're usually considerably cheaper (Probably due to age and abundance of them in scrappies) Jimny's are a straight fit, but I have a diagram for the wedge on my computer, can't remember who came up with the drawing though :/Jordi wrote:I've located a scrap yard near ish to me with both jimny and vitaras in. Re: Samurai 1.3 power steering
Im going to have a phone round tomorrow. I've read the write ups. Difflock has a fairly good wedge design. Or if you could post up details be spot on.
When im reading reviews loads of different set ups. Some mention rad mount modifications. Others dont mention anything like it just bolts straight in.
Im trying to get a load of bits together for my xmas hols to get a load of things ticked off my to do list.

Re: Samurai 1.3 power steering
You need a double pulley, but the one off the vitara is for two ribbed belts and as you have the 1.3 engine, you need it to be one v pulley for you sammy fan belt and one ribbed for the power steering pump. You could weld a ribbed pulley onto your original sammy one. Or have a look what pulley comes on the jimny.

I think you need to alter the rad mount with the vit steering box but not with the jimny one as its smaller.

Re: Samurai 1.3 power steering
Did you use jimny box ferris?
I know yours has 1.6 in it and presume the pump just bolted straight on. Some write ups mention fabricating a bracket for the 1.3.
Is is possible to take double vit bottom bulley and the vit alternator pulley to swap onto samurai and run two ribbed belts?

Yeah i used the jimny box because it was easier, and yeah the pump bolted straight on .
Not to sure about the jimny setup .
