my 410 failed mot ! help with carb please?

Post by lordyharmerz » Thu Jul 30, 2009 7:36 pm

she failed with grace today, hydrocarbons where 2600+ppm (1200ppm allowed) so a number of solutions available, personally i think its running to rich, seems to be spitting fuel out the exhaust????? maybe just a spot of water which smells odd. i have spark and she starts quickly enough, a slight popping noise from rear end also, cannot push choke all the way in or she will stall, not to sure what else to do so please feel free to put ideas in my head

Image

i have added a pic of my carb maybe some1 would be nice enough to edit and add some info as to what it all does,

Its running too rich.

you will need to get the mixture set up propperly. Do it within the next 10 days and they wont charge you for a re test.

mine failed the mot on emissions, I had a couple of vaccuum leaks from pipes around the carb. plugged them and it brought the hc down from around 2500ppm to 900. listen for any hissing. or maybe it's the carb...

like henry said, shes running rich,, are your spark plugs new, (old plugs dont always burn the complete mixture) is the air filter clean . has the mixture been set up corectly?. if you think you have a air leak,, just spray wd40 or simular around the carb mounts and vac pipes, the engine revs will increase slightly, that means you are drawing air!..
