After a k plate 1992 SJ's/ samurai need a cat...
I'd take it for a long drive and turn up at the mot station just in time to drive straight on the test ramp... A cold engine bellows emissions, but it shouldn't need an emissions check..

1.6 16v in an samurai gear box
Alright guys, just managed to get hold of a cracking 1600 16v engine but will it go onto the samurai gear box like the 8v ones do...? I have found write ups but they seem to be the 8v ones... Do you really need an adapter plate..? I've seen a few people stick the 8v in just by doing a bit of dremmel...

Not sure but I based it on, I had 5 vitara keys and everyone opened the doors. But because there coded they won't start it...

If you have an sj long key that might work, the early short keys won't. Rear spring and back box. On mine I had to replace them straight away... The back box is a bugger tho because you have to take the whole back end off to replace it

Under the rear storage tray. Rear body mounts. Let it tick over over for a few minutes then blip the throttle, watch for a blue puff.. oil seals... I've seen a few with rear door hinge problems..
