gears stiff

The gears on my GV are a little 'notchy' going into first /second when cold. They seem quite reasonable once warmed up on the road.BUT,I did a fair few miles of lanes to-day (Thetford Forest) 2nd gear mainly, & it became nearly impossible to engage 1st.( just like a dragging clutch) ,but once bac...

Grand Vitara 4WD

I noticed a couple of times after using 4WD seriously (deep mud /climbs ) that, despite changing back to 2WD promptly ,as I got to the tarmac the transfer gears whined & there was a tendency to pull to the left.It dawned on me that (despite the 4WD indicator extinguishing) it must be stuck in 4WD...

Re: grand vitara 1.6 newbie

Cheers for the replies, folks.Well IMO the pump should be fine......but the electrics working it look very vulnerable.....I thought the Japs were very clever.....but ,on the face of it that positioning looks dumb?

Re: grand vitara 1.6 newbie

Looking at the page on the 4wd system ,got me wondering ...is the air pump vulnerable to damage from water (wading up to 2ft deep etc.)? or are the electrics well sealed?
Cheers,Mick
