Engine Choices

Post by dan-wilks » Sun Oct 25, 2015 12:15 pm

Probably had this thread many times, but what engine choices are there out there? ranging from the easy in and to the little bit more complex, i have currently been looking at a metro gti engine and a mini a series engine but not sure how well they would suit

I assume you are taking about an SJ. In my opinion the best is also the easiest. 1.6 from a Vitara is easy to fit, light, good torque, is Suzuki, shares spares with the original 1.3, cheap, and readily available.

If you're talking about your little red Santana, you'll need a gearbox out of a SJ413 when you fit a 1.6, although I *think* the Vitara gearbox is fairly easy to fit too - the gearbox that comes with the 1.0 won't fit a 1.6.
1985 SJ413VX (SJ50V) with SPOA, rear disc brakes, 31x10.5R15 Kaiman Malatesta tyres, an MOT and a lot left to do!
