The leaf springs were originally under the axles, the previous owner has fitted them on top of the axle which creates around 4 to 5 inches of lift.
The engine swap is alot easier than you would think.
Theres loads of other not so hard mods which help it as an offroader and an onroader
Thanks Again. Sorry for all the qeustions.
My next question is if we can finish all the bits for MOT, Can we use it the way it is now as Run-around Until we can afford to do something about this.

Yes of course, it will be very under powered though. Get yourself on the look out for either a 1.3 or 1.6 8v carb engine or a pair of vitara fromt diffs. Theres how to guides on the main page of this forum for both.

Thanks Very Much for your help. are these 1.3 and 1.6 engines from Sazuki ? and what year Vitara diffs should I be looking for.
There is a local SJ for sale it has a Sazuki Swift engine in but needs quite a bit of work to body, My son is thinking of buying it if he can get it at right price.

I would only buy if its in and runningb, that way you could transfer it all to yours.
Early vitaras were 1.6 8v carb, all sj413s and most samurais are 1.3 8v carb.
Early vitaras have the better diff ratios, use the link to the diff calculators Jordi posted earlier, to find ths closest one to standard for the engine your using, a 1.3 wants to be a 410 tbox and 3.7s, a 1.6 a 410 tbox and 3.9s and a rough guess a 1.0 wants to be a 410 tbox and 4.6 or higher diffs.
5.1s and a 410 tbox with a 1.3 or 1.6 will be overkill though and top out at 60mph, the 1.0 will need the higher diffs to compensate for lower engine power
