Santana SJ410 Water temperature sensor
Santana SJ410 Water temperature sensor
Hi,
I have inherited my late son's 1988 Santana. I can't sell it and try to keep it roadworthy and use it as much as I can. Since I have had the car the temperature gauge has not worked. After a real struggle to remove the sensor I fitted a new one which had a bullet connector rather than a spade connector and now the gauge goes quite quickly to overheat, but the engine temperature is still normal. I purchased a new sensor from another supplier (again bullet connector) but still have the same result. I believe the sensor is wrong but I have tried various suppliers and websites but can't seem to find the one for my 970cc Santana.
Does anyone know where I can get a suitable sensor or is it the gauge that is faulty?
Many thanks, DaveB

to the club .
I would probably try the main dealer, there prices aren't usually that bad on smaller parts . It might cost a little more but at least you know your getting the right part. I went to my local motor factors to get a oil filter for my SJ. They tried 2 different parts supplyers and they both came back with different filters, both of them wrong!

ferris, many thanks for the reply. I will try the main dealer, the reason I didn't is because I believed the age of the car they may not have stocked spares, but I will give them a try. I live in Bristol and the one I knew of closed a couple of years ago. I beleive there is another though.
Again, thanks for reply, much appreciated

surprisingly they can still get most parts, although they can be quite expensive on some things. I use Roadworthy Suzuki on Fishponds road. There pretty good and can usually get parts in the next day.

Thanks, I'll certainly give them a try, the one I knew of was at Avonmeads, but they changed franchise some time ago.
The 4x4 is certainly worth having in this weather, thanks again

Dave
If and when you visit your local Suzuki dealer for the sensor, make sure you have the full chassis number at hand. Without it they cannot order a part correct for the vehicle - will save you a trip home and back again.

I must admit I've had another good look around and can only find one type, the one with a bullet connection

Hope Suzuki can sort it for you.
Edited due to wrong link. (How did I manage that )

I presume the sender has an m16x1.5 thread? all the ones in that size I have seen have bad a bullet connector.
Any chance of a few pics.
1 of the original sender
1 of the engine
And one of the clocks.
Might sound like a strange request I just want to make sure everything is original
