413 Kingpin Shims
Hi fellas, I've almost finished rebuilding my front axle.......all I need now is advice on how to put it back together , anyway a question.....when I took the old kingpin bearings out there weren't any shims in them and I didn't get any with my axle bearing & seal kit, do they have/need them or not?

Re: 413 Kingpin Shims
It depends. Every individual axle is made to slightly different size. The shims therefore vary between axles. The only way is to check your individual axle and add or remove shims accordingly.

I would have thought the seal/bearing kit I bought would have come with them as it included kingpin bearings, I know the Hilux kit somes with them.......I take it I can buy shims somewheredan_2k_uk wrote:It depends. main dealer normally think Darrel has the part numbers.. or sometimes few forum members have some laying around they might wish to sell.

Have a really good poke around when cleaning the knuckle and king pins up, as I found a few extra then.
You might be unlucky and not find any yet need lots. Just check it all when rebuilding.

Re: 413 Kingpin Shims
Best deal on kingpin bearings I know of is Martin http://www.bigjimny.com/store/index.php ... oduct_id=6
The shims are Suzuki only I believe. The bearing should be just the same size, the shims are fitted to allow for slight differences on the casting. However as the bearing wears slightly some people remove a shim (if it had any) to take up the play and this would need refitting with new bearings.
If martin doesn't have any a company called "Simplybearings" is only slighty dearer.

Cheers mate, as I say I don't know if I need any shims as I didn't see any on when I took the old bearings off but would be good to have some ready for when I put the axle back together just in caseDarrell wrote:Best deal on kingpin bearings I know of is Martin http://www.bigjimny.com/store/index.php ... oduct_id=6

Re: 413 Kingpin Shims
I would maybe give your nearest Suzuki dealer a ring to see if they have any in stock.
At least if needed you know you could go and get them. If you have alternative transport that is.
