Re: the no dosh Vitara revamp
Just checked myself and it is for a Vit 1.6, it's just on the wrong side due to a manufacturing cock up. It'll fit.

Lol, Google for Vitara V6 snorkel. You may be able to make it fit but the airbox intake goes into the passenger side wing and your battery may have to move.donkeychomp wrote:Just checked myself and it is for a Vit 1.6, it's just on the wrong side due to a manufacturing cock up. It'll fit.

Yep, I realise that but a bit of trickery and it'll fit. Might have to move the battery a bit to one side or relocate it completely but for that price I'm not bothered! Will get it done this week hopefully then you can see what had to be done.

Bit of pipe and it should be fine.

Well it fits perfectly. The template for the drill holes was as useful as a condom machine in the Vatican but we finally figured it all out! Just got to plumb it all in next.

Re: the no dosh Vitara revamp
lol, read up..I'll get that sorted asap and post some under the bonnet pics. Might get another jubilee clip for the filter as just having one seems a bit risky.

Looking good mate. Sometimes you just need to take the risk, and work out the minor details later. Not got round to fitting mine yet, but at least I don't have the worry of the battery in the way. (its behind the passenger seat) Also should have plenty of room over the engine for the pipe work as the body is lifted 3". Anyway look forward to seeing how you finish it off, are you going to keep the standard air box?
Built with ebay!!!

Yes keeping the airbox. Not had a chance to do anything at the moment because of the sodding Beetle in my garage. Hope to have that finished in another week and then I can crack on!

Re: the no dosh Vitara revamp
The door is finally in. Someone here asked to see how it is done so here goes.
First all the useless clutter was removed, door handle, rear wiper motor etc.
We removed everything from the back of the Vit including the trim panels, had a test fit and it needed cutting down on both bottom corners to clear the wheel arches. This was all done by eye but we got it right first time! It was tacked in at the sides and at the top corners, this leaves a 7cm gap at the bottom so a thin sheet of steel was welded to the bottom of the door then to the floor of the car. It's rock solid now. All that is left to do is put some fibreglass on each side where the window is as there are small gaps there.
Drove home on the M25 and no drafts, rattles or squeaks! And it is very warm inside now too.
The inside is now going to be trimmed in either thin alloy or check plate, and the roll cage will be beefed up and put back, with a spare wheel carrier mounted to it...somewhere!
