Hello again. Back in a SJ but I broke it

Post by Christoff » Tue Jan 28, 2014 11:57 am

Been a while since I posted up. A lots happened. Bought a defender so the SJ was left sat for a month or 2. Anyway the Landys blown a piston so I'm using the SJ while I swap the engine.

I broke this bit so I took one off a spare axle and found that mine is different. Mine seems to be bigger more heavy duty. The U bolts are bigger thread and the plate has the holes in a slightly different place

Here are pics of my broken plate and the one I intended to replace it with

Should I weld the new pin onto my plate or what ?

I'm sure that on mine the front drivers side plate is slightly different to the other three due to needing larger U bolts at that location on the axle.

Is it this one you've broken or looking to try and use?

Can you not open the holes a little?
It shouldn't be too hard to cut off a good bolt and weld onto your broken plate either.

Just weld a new shock mount onto it if you can't find a replacement.

Yeah ok think il do that. Can't drill out the holes on it because the spacing is too far out. Just tie wrapped the shock out of the way for now and putting up with a bouncy ride. Not that I would notice been SPOA

I've got some Chris if you want them? They are the same sort, with the ARB mount,

Edit

Top left is one of them, it has a sheared bolt in the arb mount but as your spoa you won't use them anyway will you?
