Re: Samurai shell resto.
Made a start on cutting the rear arches out. I've decided to cut them right out and make complete new arches. I'm cutting around the top on the wheel arch groove for extra clearance as my current fronts (cut to the bottom of the groove) only have 10/15mm clearance with 50mm extended bump stops. When I finally fit the YJs I intend to raise the bump stops again for maximum flex.

Re: Samurai shell resto.
Im trying, short on cash and time at the moment. Hoping to get another few hours at it this weekend. Aiming to have everything cut out (sills, arches, bulkhead, any rust) then order a job lot of steel in one go to fill all the gaps back in.dan_2k_uk wrote:Good stuff
I have a cunning idea to prevent the sills filling with mud and water again but im not quite sure it will work yet.

Is it as cunning as a fox what used to be Professor of Cunning at Oxford University but has moved on and is now working for the U.N. at the High Commission of International Cunning Planning?Jordi wrote:I have a cunning idea to prevent the sills filling with mud and water again but im not quite sure it will work yet.
There's three ways of doing things:
The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

Re: Samurai shell resto.
Found this awesome multi layered floor repair panels. I think I may need to replace it, I really did wonder why the grinder was struggling through it.
The majority of the rear arches are cut to shape, just the niggly bit round the seat belt housing to sort. Few small floor panels will need to be done. I've cut most of the passenger sill out. I'm trying to set it as close to the floor pan as i can so I can fit the new sill in nice and tight to it.1988 Samurai - Truck Cab & Tray Back - 1.6 8v & HIF44 - Snorkel - Stack Exhaust - PAS, YJs & 33s - Trussed, Gusseted & Pumpkin Capped Axles - 4.3 R&Ps - 4.16 T/Box - Rear Air Locker - Full Float Back Axle & Discs - RCV Front Shafts - X-Eng Handbrake - Custom Fuel Tank
