I've used 10mm waterproof carpet underlay, glue to all the interior panels and then lined it with 3mm play and then glue van mat, similar to acoustic carpet and it has made a vast improvement, sticky back sound deadener is good for covering the transmition tunnel and will stop a lot of noise aswel as on big areas like the roof and quarter panels...

If its being used for offroading and will possibly see water that will enter the cab then stuck down sound deadening is a very bad idea in my opinion, water will get trapped underneath/in it and speed up corrosion.

My Sj has no sound deadening whatsoever a 2" exhaust and pretty much solid engine and transmission mounts (polybushes) yet I don't find it that bad and can still hear my stereo. Plus it's good to hear all the noises, gives you an early warning if there's something going wrong

Mine will have a roof lining and that'll be it.

I don't even have that being a soft top.

Right back to basics.

Ha ha, I'd like to say being a tin top mine was waterproof. Have those same issues though.

Ah, now I have a plan...
1) Strip this body bare, everything that can be taken off, will be taken off.
2) All rust removed and holes patched up.
3) Treat the new bits with rust treatment before priming.
4) After I've done the top, I'll take it off the chassis (It's staying on the chassis now to make sure it doesn't bend or do anything funky whilst welding it up.
5) Then same treatment underneath.
6) Drill some holes in strategic places.
7) Pump holes full of Waxoil
8) Rubber bungs in holes.
9) Cover underneath with underseal.
10) Bungs into strategic holes.
11) Put interior in (Including soundproofing, Wiring etc)
12) Rut body on my current running chassis.

(This will take up the next few months)

Then...

13) Patch up Santana body
14) Treat for tust
15) Make new roof/back plate.
16) Put on the chassis that came off the Van
17) Throw it all together (all I need is rear axle and props, got everything else)
18) Get it running, then use it as a Off roading toy. Keep the van as a run-around.

That's the long term plan anyway.

Huw
There's three ways of doing things,
1) The Right Way,
2) The Wrong Way
3) My Way.
2 & 3 are usually the same.
