RUF Troubles, Please help :S

Post by SlimGrim » Fri Jun 09, 2017 3:22 am

for quite some time my zook has needed new springs, mine are flat as fuck & the only two makes I seem to find for sale are lesjofors which I have read all about the bending ends and shit that people have had happen so they are a no go, and also this make that's all over eBay called kilen, but I've not heard any info at all on the kilen brand so not too sure about them either unless you guys can chime in otherwise, so that leaves me with the option of going slightly taller for my much needed better ride quality, in the form of a RUF conversion... I have no idea about how to do a RUF conversion other than I need missing link shackles for the front, can someon either: A outline if kilen are shit, or B tell me what I'm doing for a RUF conversion so I can get on with this shitshow :hahaha:
Cheers

Also you can kinda see how flat the fronts are in this photo:

Years ago I used to make and sell on eBay springs

I have a set of five Inch calmini leaf springs that I use one leaf from them into sj springs

People really liked them, I could make you a set if you wanted?

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by claiming springs? Is this like add a leaf or something?

unless they are inverting, the front springs normally sit flat.

kilen are a well known brand of spring, we sell them at my work regularly but they are mostly the coils, what they leafs are like is unknown.

your sami looks dam good to me

Cheers for the offer bud but not really looking for height so 5" would be a bit much :/ old man emu has stopped doing standards but might have to settle for some 1"s an I right in thinking if I do +2" all Round I'll need extended shocks & brake lines, also cheers for the info on the kilen Andy, might give them a shot if not?

Your springs don't look too bad to me, stock fronts don't have much arch. As Andy says it's when they bend the wrong way that you want to worry

As you are worried about the ride quality, think about YJ springs. They're cushy for your tushy. When I rode in ScottieJ's machine, I couldn't help but fall in love with the ride quality.

So if it's the ride quality you are worried about, give YJ's some thought. Check out Scottie's build thread (or Jordie's) for a how-to - it's not simple, but neither is it too difficult (by the looks of it, says the man who hasn't done it!)...!

Half a day to a full day if you are using a kit. I used the sky kit from low range off road, few have used the trail tough kit. Scotties is home-brew.
