Short answer no you carnt.

Long answer is yes you can, but you need to strip the front diff down to change a few gears over from front to back for it to fit.

The play you can feel will be in the prop flange. This is the pinion bearing.

You could just replace the crush collor to stop it from leaking, but it would depend on how bad the bearing is and what you use it for.

To use the front in the back, you need to change the side gears. This requires the stripping down of both diffs. You will need impact guns ect to get them apart, and the diff you plan to re use will need to be set up properly. This will need to be done by a garage.

Hope this helps

I know a guy who might possibly be able to help with the diffs in north-east midlands, Matt Pearce. He's on the edge of Caistor, on Brigg Road, and runs a 4x4 specialist garage and also deals a few cars too. My SJ went there for a service and my Mum's 300TDI Disco is a regular visitor.

If you want to give him a ring: 01472 852266

And here's a picture of his garage from google maps:

That's the only place I can think of, and I'm pretty sure I'm one of the closest people to you on the forum, 'cause I'm just on the other side of the Humber from Hull.
