kentish newbie?

Post by mr.lers » Mon Feb 04, 2013 7:30 pm

evening gents.. been browsing your ace forum for about a year now or since i climbed off my life thretening yamaha r1 (lose life or licence)and became the proud owner of a Ereg sj 410 tin top with a very tired mk1 1324cc swift engine on a 5 speed sammi box, hif38 thought it was a 44 till i measured it??
thanks to your how to guide i replaced the rear wheel bearings, changed two uj's (now with nipples), polly bushed and patched(blown holes in?) a few areas but ive just brought a cheap vitara purely for its fat boy alloys and 1.6 8v carb engine it runs fine but does have a blown head gasket and cracked exhaust manifold hoping to do the swap soon as the 1.3 also has a v blown head gasket and has very little compression. still managing to nurse her about as i need the sj for work(8w tipper driver) so im hoping to tap into the vast wealth of knowledge that is suzuki club uk??

1st Q. the 2 wires black with white stripe and black that go into the vitara carb on a green clip connecter what are they for?? auto choke?? not got anything on the sj to accomodate?? will post some pics when i work out how ??

Welcome to SCUK.

Good to see another Zuk being resurected, and not for the first time by the sounds of it.

:welcome: to :suzuki: club UK matey, glad our site has been a lot of help  I might be interested in your tired old swift gti engine if its for sale ;) where in the UK are you?

As for the green plug it should be the fuel stop solenoid (if it screws into the carb on the rocker cover side of the carb?) just find a black w/white tracer in your loom (ignition +) and join it to that and earth the black wire, I used the other half of the green connector cut off the bit loom when I did mine so I could easily disconnect it and keep it factory looking.
Zuki Build

Steady as she goes!
