Post by suzukisteve » Sun Jun 30, 2013 1:46 pm

afternoon everyone, was just wondering whats best type of primer to use for bare metal? something that will help hold rust back mainly as it'll be used on the arches :salute:

red oxide primer or zink primer maby. they come in the form of a spray paint and they react with the metal to stop it rusting. If its the inside of the arches than you can overpaint it with body underseal and it will never rust.

Yeah zinc primer. Get a high enough zinc content and you can weld through it too.

I use red oxide and would touch anything else! for general painting but if im spraying i would use just a general grey or white primer depending on what colour im spraying.

I loved the red oxide I used on mine but the top coat wouldn't take that well to it.

Find something compatable with the green paint Scottie gave you with the truck.

zinc primer over etch primer, it's not cheap that way, but lasts a long time
It's not a question of how much you spend on your suzuki, but when your money will run out
