Time to start the mods

Hi All.

I have bought a standard Jimny and i am going to do a 2"
suspension lift. My question is what tyre size to go for?

I will be using it as my daily driver and a little light offroad.
My KJA is running 235/75/15 and are very happy with them.
I dont want to go any larger and start messing with change of
gearing etc. Suggestions?

You're going up tyre size by 1.6 inches, so in theory a 0.8 inch lift would be sufficient. It's such a mild increase in tyre size that I'm not sure you need 2" of lift.

You might get away with just taking a hammer to the inner arches (many SJ owners get away with that, at least) and/or trimming the plastic arches. I say might because I don't know Jimny's.

Are you getting castor corrected radius arms?

215/75/15s without any trimming. What year is your Jimny? the earlier models are easier to trim without it looking like it got hacked up.

Thanks for the replies.

Its a 2005 model. The springs look a little tired so i am
going to replace them. Doing a 2"lift with spring/shock set
including caster correction bushes. Having not had anything
to do with Jimnys before, i thought asking the tyre size question
would save an expensive mistake.

Should be able to get 235s on with no lift and trimming, Ju runs 31s with 2" lift and trimming.

I am doing the 2" lift because i like the look and its nice
to know i can order the 235/75/15 with confidence.

I would say size depends on tyre type, I had 195 Special Traks and I needed to remove the inner arch due to rubbing so 235's should be fine on most tyre types but with Special Traks look at going a size smaller
