Re: Kawazonkey
Been a while since I updated this, sorry. I managed to source a UK frame (with V5) and an engine and that arrived. Manky as hell but all do-able. The engine had great compression but the barrels and pistons were badly scored. A rebore is expensive as then I'll need larger pistons and rings. Luckily a good set of barrels and pistons popped up on Ebay for £50 so they are on the way. I also did a deal with a fellow Yamaha forum member and I'll swap some LC bits for RD bits he has, like carbs, coils, exhausts etc. So this frame will have all the bits transfered over to it and the other frame will be a basis for another race bike (one day!). So, some pics...

Wow, you're building her again?

No mate, this is a different RD250. The white one was sold a while ago.

Ah, ok. For some reason I thought you were stripping her to rebuild her on a new chassis.
Brain fog!

Re: Kawazonkey
Decided to make this bike a bit more special than all the other so called 'specials' out there. I got a Yamaha YZF 125 swing arm wheel and brake caliper. And of course none of these fit the RD frame. A bit of machine work and I have some spacers so the swing arm now fits. Next major headache is getting the shock mounts welded in. This is not going to be easy but I'm a glutton for punishment lol.

Re: Kawazonkey
We now have a colour scheme. Ford Riviera Blue with the Yamaha black and white speed blocks down the centre of the tank and seat. Swing arm got powder coated. On the hunt for some Allspeed exhausts now.
