Got me a CB

Post by twiss » Thu Dec 22, 2016 1:30 am

Thought I'd buy myself a Christmas present, and it arrived today :D

Apologies for the poor picture quality and the current state of my dashboard haha

Didn't have much room to put it anywhere else...

This is a 1.5m springer, I had a 1.6m whip on before and if you caught it on something it would swing back violently in the other direction, this one just wobbles around on the spring, much better than it was before. You need a big antenna really for cb as it's a comparatively long wavelength. The best length is 108" but don't get that even with the spring. My signal reflection ratio is pretty perfect, never managed to get it that good with a short antenna

Tom, lots of them have dual watch. It flicks between two channels. I've been out with it on scan (scrolls through the channels) and not found anybody yet! Bought it for between car comms though instead of talking to weirdos!

You can get vhf/uhf radios which are quite cheap in handheld format, but not compatible... and the 5-0 use vhf/uhf ;)

The pa speaker is quite amusing haha
