Re: Anton's build
Keep the breather blocked off... the smooth one on the same side as the fuel in and the blocked breather is actually fuel overflow... either goes as low and out of the way as possible, or connect to the tank return lineAnton wrote:Just a quick one Jordi - should I be considering opening up the breather then Jordi? Or does everyone keep that one blocked off?

Unless running the original mechanical fuel pump, in which case the fuel return needs to be on that so go with the first option.twiss wrote: either goes as low and out of the way as possible, or connect to the tank return line
Also looks like you are going to need to move the Vac advance take off as it is taken off the wrong side of the butterfly.

Re: Anton's build
I'm using an electric fuel pump, and I don't have a return fuel line (I might install one though - eventually!)
And the advance/retard needs moving? I suppose I could drill the body and tap it, to install a new advance/retard - but surely they'd put the advance/retard in the right place when they first make a carb?
What's wrong with it where it is? I know the pressure behind the butterfly is going to be different to the pressure at the venturi, but I don't want to go drilling holes into the carb and potentially disturbing the airflow unless I know I have to!
Where's the advance/retard on other people's SU's?

Has a link to nigel heads vac advance write up, I just pulled out the existing vac pipe, plugged it and then drilled a new hole for the new take off and loctited the pipe in, obviously with the carb removed so i could clean out any filings.

Re: Anton's build
The difflock writeup has links to the vac advance mod, but they're invalid now.
Found this thread in which you say pull the vac advance out with a twist, drill a new hole, and glue it back in with loctite.
Gonna try that, I think.

Re: Anton's build
good ol' difflock useless!
I will take pics of the position I drilled mine in later for you if you want, looking at your carb it seems to have a take off in the normal position that has already been blocked, I wonder what side of the butterfly that enters the carb?? might be on the correct side so you could just unblock it and fit the pipe?

Re: Anton's build
Cheers, I'd find that useful. As for unblocking the take off, you mean the thing with the bolt in it?
I have to take the carb off anyway, so I may just strip it down and work out where that pipe goes. If I can use it for the advance/retard, then great - otherwise I'll drill and refit the current one like you said before.

Ah, ok. That makes more sense. I'll have to look at that tomorrow!
