Post by courior » Wed Oct 01, 2014 8:06 pm

Hi all,

Does anyone have an exploded diagram of front and rear suspension from a 410? or anything else thats the same? I want to count the bushes and things and see how it goes together before i have a go at replacing them all. Cheers

Done this..
The bolts that go through the spring/sleeve can often rust together so bad that they need to be cut off.
Just consider if you can get new bolts easily before you start. They are just 12mm x 100mm long.
Your of course may well be rust free !!

Its ok.. Found a spring replacement guide in the how-to section for the front... i guess the rear is the same.. so 16 small bushes and 8 large ones, and 12 bolts in total. Correct me if im wrong :)

Now i see the Diagram.. So i was right, thats good :) Cheers Darrell.

Going to make up some slightly longer shackles and get a kit to do this!

Cheers!

The original shackles have special bolts so they pinch up tight but do not compress the bush. These are also pressed into the shackle plate.
When people make extended shackles I believe they just use bolts. I don't know if they weld the head to stop the bolt from turning in the shackle? and use nylock nuts as not to compress the bushes?
I recommend you only extend them a little if you go down this route.

Yeah I recommended 100mm distance max to courior...
My bolt heads aren't welded in, but I have got nylock nuts. Never had a problem with them like that

I just do them up to the point just before they start to bend the shackles in
Bolt welded though the middle also helps

Yeah this was all twiss's idea lol. How thick does the steel plate need to be? Would going thicker than standard be of advantage?

Cheers

No need for a brace in the middle of the shackle, not having a brace allows the shackle to twist a bit and this helps with flex.

Helps to stop you doing them up to tight at least ;)
And I find that mine flex even with the bar welded through the middle :S
