Sorry PolycottonblendAdmiral, Velcro would have been by far the most obvious slur!

Rather than just being on a switch i actually wired in a 3.5mm jack socket into the dash by the ignition barrel, then got a 3.5mm jack plug and wired it into itself in a loop. This way i could keep it on my car keys at all times :brows:

lol thanks for that, the actual alternative to Nylon Admiral would probably be Robot Starfish or Cyborg Seadog but I quite like PolycottonblendAdmiral.

Nice idea with the jack plug though, that's pretty cool!

I bought a relay, jack and so on recently just for to do the same thing! But now I'm thinking of being a bit more creative - I have ideas involving a magnet and a reed switch...

Anton some friends and I made one with a magnetic reed switch years ago. We wanted to mount it behind the dash so you could hold the magnetic "key" in the right place for an inconspicuous, contactless start.

Unfortunately we were too lazy/useless to actually do it but it's something I've wanted to rekindle.

Nice, for the tintop I was just planning on smearing fox crap all over my interior so nobody would want to steal it anyway.

Its cheaper and more reliable than most other electronic devices, especially ones made by me.
