the no dosh LJ revamp
Some of you may have seen this on ebay recently...well up until this afternoon. It used to belong to a fellow member called emplan.
Rang him up the other day and made an offer under the proviso I could come and see the little beastie first, so I did just that today. Deposit paid and she is mine! No MOT so I am coming back on monday with a mate and his trailer.
It appears to have a slight leak coming from one rear brake drum, apart from that I can't see anything wrong, so straight to get her tested, and if she fails I'll know what to fix. SJ410 engine that sounds lovely, 4 speed gearbox but with a 5 speed spare...and lots more spares too, boxes of the stuff.
New roof, 5 new wheels with new 31" tyres.
I am so pleased. After the other LJ that was on ebay (or should I say Vitara) I really didn't think another would come along this quickly, if at all.
Couple of pics, loads more to come!
(and yes I sold some body parts for this)
Alex

Re: the no dosh LJ revamp
The LJ is the only 4x4 in the world cooler than the SJ.
I so want one, but so can't have one!

Re: the no dosh LJ revamp
It starts with "you jammy......" then just gets abusive and explicit.

Re: the no dosh LJ revamp
No dosh. I wish. I had to cash in my ISA to buy this, but it's worth it. This LJ is the car I keep for life. Had a look around at parts prices and bloody hell they are expensive. Thankfully she needs no body panels or anything like that. Missing an aerial (a wee hole on the windscreen surround) but that's no biggie, anything can go in that. Going to go for fully comprehensive insurance with this, will put it's value at £10,000.
No of course it didn't cost anything like that, but a bit of fettling and an MOT, and I think I could easily double what I paid for it. Not for sale though.
Some parts, like the fold down rear seat cost the previous owner £300!
Bonkers.
Already had a chat with my friend Stu about getting some more oomph, and a Vit lump might be on the cards, the original engine is long gone so instead of a 410 why not a 416? Might have trouble with the radiator, the one on it is tiny and there seems no room for a bigger one.
Anyway, as with the no dosh Vitara revamp, hope springs eternal etc. Anything is possible.
Stay tuned!
