changing fuel pump

Post by daemon982 » Thu Feb 26, 2015 3:05 am

hi all

I have a Samurai 1.3 8v single point injection model (1995), does this model have fuel pump in the tank?

And if I wan't to change it to external electric fuel pump, what has to be done? :help:

Pretty sure no SJ has a fuel tank pump, normally a mechanical pump, but again cant comment on the injection model. Fitting an electric pump is not too hard. Use a low pressure Facet pump hooked up to the ignition. Your fuel feed line goes into that, i was running a hiff44 at the time so just left the fuel return hanging.

Probably best to wait for someone who knows more about this model to come and comment, but im 99% sure there isn't a pump in the fuel tank.

The injection model does have an in tank pump... personally if I had the option to stick with the internal pump I would

Also having an injection samurai be very careful with your indicator stalk.... from what i remember the injection sammy has a different stalk and the carb one won't fit on it!!!

Can you get injection tanks from gypsies?

Gypsy King's were only injected from 2000 onwards so there wont be many places to get them from, most countries only have the earlier gypsy and gypsy king. I think the cost of shipping would not make it worth it.
