Re: help road trip
If its in good condition, well maintained and any modifications have been done to a good standard it'll be fine.
I've ran down to bedford and northampton in mine a few times. Some of the other lads have done a few trips of a few hundred miles too.
It's a huge annoyance of mine when people daren't drive a SJ any where as they deem it "too unreliable". Most of use use ours for greenlaning and venture off into the countryside miles from anywhere and certainly unreachable by the AA.
If it is in good working order and well maintained it will be fine.

It'll be fine.
If you are worried about driving it that far you could always get your gf to move to Suffolk

Yeah I never understand when people say this. Theres very little difference between driving a few hundred miles spread over a week commuting or doing it a at once.
Arguably things are more likely to fail when cold or having sat so a good run with everything warm and free is better.

Re: help road trip
At one point I was driving mine from Brighton to Bournemouth and back once a week (about 100 miles), fine as long as you keep on top of maintenance.
Had to get rescued once when I stupidly overfilled the oil after installing a 1.6 with a 1.3 sump and the wrong dipstick...
Probably would have all burned off but got recovered to be sure.

Re: help road trip
Think the most miles in one day in mine was a shade over 500miles, half of that with two engines in the back and a detour on the way home to Pop by scotties workshop, to pick up more bits.
